TIG Welding is commonly used
when a high quality Weld is required.
An arc is formed between a pointed tungsten electrode and the work piece. An inert gas is fed through the torch to shield the electrode and molten weld pool.
The advantages of TIG welding over other welding methods are:
- Superior quality welds
- Low weld porosity
- Welds can be made with or without filler metal
- Precise control of welding
variables (heat)
- Free of spatter
- Low distortion
